ロイシンとは

ロイシン(leucine)は、アミノ酸のひとつで、人の体内では合成出来ないため必須アミノ酸になります。ロイシンは、側鎖にイソブチル基を持つ疎水性アミノ酸や非極性側鎖アミノ酸で分岐鎖アミノ酸に属する、白色結晶の成分です。

ロイシン(leucine)の名前の語源は、ギリシア語で白いを意味する”leuco”とされています。また、イソロイシン、バリンとともに細胞の修復を助けるアミノ酸であり、筋肉を成長させる成分でもあります。

イソロイシン、ロイシン、バリンは、すべて分岐差アミノ酸と呼ばれるもので、一般的にBCAAと呼ばれるものです。特にロイシンは筋肉の合成に重要な役割のあるアミノ酸である。

ロイシン(L-ロイシン)は一般的に苦みを感じるものですが、R体のD-ロイシンは甘く感じます。

そしてロイシンは、化粧品成分名ですが、医薬部外品として使用する場合はL-ロイシンと表示されます。
